Telcos! Please stop your Unfair Practice

Posted on Wednesday, March 01, 2006 12:00 PM

Bitstop has information that leads us to believe that some unscrupulous members of Telco/s are eavesdropping on our subscribers and getting their numbers and names. Whether or not they are sanctioned by their top management is of no concern to us.These telco/s, in turn use this to generate leads for their marketing campaigns.

Bitstop appeals to the Telcos to come to their senses and STOP this practice immediately. This is an unfair business practice and will only generate ill will among its subscribers as well. Would the telcos want Bitstop to do the same to their DSL subscribers as well? That is the test of fairness. Bitstop thanks Migz for calling attention to this problem.

Please clarify what you mean by "eavesdropping." Are the TELCOs able to see what is being sent? Isnt this against the Anti Wiretapping Law? It is a very dangerous thing as we dont know how they will use that information. Please inform the NTC or other relevant government bodies.

I guess the burden of proof and collection of evidence will be placed on the complainant. This would be hard if not impossible since it's the telco's switch system who get's who get's in a specified E1R2 DID trunk. How will the complainant go about collection proof that there was indeed eavesdropping? curious lang ako.

The better question is how do we present proof withour revealing or burning our source?

Hello.

I find it weird for telcos to resort to such tactic. I mean, it's easy to get leads. You can do this without 'eavesdropping' or anything technical.
