Service Termination Announcement

Bitstop Inc is going to stop our dialup internet service effective 45 days from today. So by August 20, 2008, all dialup servers will be shut down. Bitstop Inc is unable to continue the service level given the rising cost of power and overhead and the given the availability of broadband access.

All users with unused Nitro cards on August 20, 2008 can refund the unused portion with their dealers. Nitro dealers in turn will be able to claim these back from Bitstop Inc.

Bitstop Challenge

As the cost of power is constantly increasing, Bitstop Inc is on the lookout for high powered computing devices that also consumes the least electricity. Our challenge is open to the public as well.

Design from AVAILABLE components in the country, the highest powered PC with the lowest power consumption. The winner gets a nominal prize of 5,000 pesos plus the being listed here :).

The winning design must have the following metrics:

1. Highest ratio of System Price divided by total power consumption (pc system including monitor)

2. Lowest ratio of System Price divided by computing speed

This challenge is for the next three days only.

Bitstop Thanks Emerson for Fast Response

Bitstop Inc thanks Mr John Villanueva (Supervisor) and Marlon Gawid (Service Engineer) of Emerson Electric for the fast response in servicing the 6KVA Liebert UPS. The Liebert UPS are supporting our data center in the wake of power outage that hit the province as a result of typhoon Cosme.

Generators need to rest and the Liebert UPS are vital component of our power backup strategy. The immediate response from Emerson in providing technical assistance helped to ensure the continuous power supply to the datacenter.

Storm Causes Extensive Damage

Techcare Chief Mr Melvin Bueno reports that the storm hit Dagupan and left extensive damage. Electric posts were knocked down, causing extensive power outages. Our telecoms antenna was also knocked down so some of our circuits may not be working. We will know for sure come Monday.
